Begin Your Career as a Firefighter

Professional firefighters attend to the needs of individuals and communities during times of crises, disasters, and emergencies. Career opportunities for firefighters who are also trained as emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics are projected to continue to grow. A firefighting career is more than a job, it is a call to serve the community.

Students must have completed the EMT program or a 40-hour EMR program as a pre-requisite for the Fire Academy.

Fire Academy Temporary Closure & Relocation Notice:

麻豆视频精选鈥檚 Fire Academy has temporarily suspended operations following the expiration of its agreement for the Hollywood training location. The Academy will no longer conduct training at that facility. The Physical Agility Test (PAT) scheduled for December 5, 2026, has been canceled, and applications for that test are closed. The previously scheduled January and February 2027 Fire Academy classes are also canceled as the Academy transitions to a new training center.

麻豆视频精选 will secure a new Fire Academy training location in Broward County, with the goal of beginning classes in late March 2027. Details about the new training center, class schedules, and enrollment will be announced on this website.

A new PAT is anticipated for late February 2027. The confirmed test date and registration instructions will be posted as they become available. Keep checking on this website for future updates.

As part of our commitment to students, the Fire Programs Coordinator and Admissions Specialist will contact all students registered for the December PAT or students on the January and February Academy classes waitlist within the next two weeks to discuss next steps. Students already on the Academy waitlist for January and February FFI and II classes will receive priority consideration for upcoming classes, subject to admission requirements and available seats. New applicants will be placed on a waitlist and contacted as opportunities become available.

Thank you for your patience and continued interest in 麻豆视频精选鈥檚 Fire Academy. We look forward to welcoming our next class at our new training location.

Academy Entrance Physical Agility Test

Date: May 1, 2027

The Physical Agility Test is the first step in the 麻豆视频精选 Fire Academy application program. Invitations to apply to our competitive Fire Academy are based on your individual performance on the PAT.

The 麻豆视频精选 Fire Academy Physical Agility Test (PAT) is based upon a comprehensive job task analysis, these determined tasks that are deemed critical, ones performed frequently by firefighters.

This validated job simulation test is used to objectively measure firefighter's performance. The tasks are performed sequentially, and accurately reflect the metabolic demand imposed on a firefighter during actual emergencies.

Further information on the test, skills, performance expectations, and more, can be found in the orientations packet.

Additionally, students must have completed a State or Nationally approved EMT program or a 40-hour EMR program as a pre-requisite for the Fire Academy.
